Interested in being a professional footballer? Try the Bristol City Football Academy for a change. Starting out in 1998, the academy was launched to attract more young talented children to receive training to be the next football star in Bristol City Football Club. This is not unusual, as many football clubs are doing the same thing for the same purpose: to get the best talent in town.

The only problem is that the rules and regulations are very strict, and it is never easy to gain entry into the academy. You need to prove yourself as having the potential to be an excellent footballer before you can join the academy. The academy accepts both female and male participants, and they are known as scholars in the academy, seeing as they are only teenagers from nine years old to eighteen years old.

Most of the time, they spend time training at Collett Park or Chew Valley. While they receive training, they must attend school just like any other kid in town. There is no exception to this. If you think you are up for the challenge, go on and apply! Who knows, you might be the next star in the football club and carve your own successful career.

Supporters Club for Bristol City Football Club

It was in 1949 when the idea of supporters’ clubs came into mind. A supporters’ club is totally independent and has no affiliation whatsoever with the football club, and the funding is raised by the supporters alone. So, the more supporters there are, the better the funding would be. The main purpose of having a supporters’ club is to gather all supporters to show up at all matches to cheer and to give support to the football team they love the most; the Bristol City Football Club. They also help the Bristol City Football Club to achieve their goal in any way possible.

It started out by having just one building to accommodate everyone for meets and gatherings; they slowly expanded to having two blocks of buildings, which later developed into more blocks, thanks to their support. It is crucial to have a players changing room but later, they developed a new club known as the Executive Club or The 51 Club in 1951. Now, it is a huge success thanks to the support they gained over the years. Anyone can be a supporter as long as they abide by the rules and regulations. You might want to check out their site before you sign up to be a supporter.

The Team of Bristol City Football Club

With Adriano Basso as the goal keeper, the whole team seems to be working together just fine, perhaps better than most other football teams. Who doesn’t like this particular goalkeeper? Apart from being good looking, he is excellent at his job, and no one can pass his guard easily. It is never easy to back up the whole team, but Basso is enjoying a great career in his time on the team.

There are a total of 17 players, with players such as Bradley Orr, Jamie McAllister, Liam Fontaine, Jamie McCombe, Louis Carey, Scott Murray and David Noble among the members in the team, which is very important indeed. Let us not forget the strikers, Nicky Maynard, as well as Dele Adebola and Peter Styvar. They are also excellent strikers that any other player would fear. And the rest, being the defenders, have an important role to make sure the victory is theirs. Without a good team, no football club can survive in any football seasons.

If there is a team of players, there must be a team of reserves as backup in case someone is out for the match. Whether reserves or first team players, everyone has the same goal: to win the league.

Stadium of Bristol City Football Club

Bristol City played at Ashton Gate when it was first started. The stadium alone has a capacity of 21,500. With such a big capacity, it is not surprising that people are flocking to the stadium to watch a game or two, especially when the season kicks off and everyone is feeling the intense heat. The stadium was supposed to be the home of Bedminster Football Club until 1900, when the merge happened. It was not until 1904 that Bristol City Football Club took over the place officially, making it the home of Bristol City Football Club.

Ashton Gate is not only the place for football practice - it has been the host of some big concerts involving Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams and even Bon Jovi along the way. From time to time, there are concerts organised there, making it a popular landmark among the residents of the UK.

Recently, there has been a proposal to have a new stadium at Ashton Vale, to provide a new home for the Bristol City Football Club while trying to revive South of Bristol to its original state, where it was once a popular city. However, it has not been finalised yet (the plan for a new stadium) as talks are ongoing, with no decision yet from the board of directors. Whether this plan will get a nod depends on the publics’ reactions and suggestions.

Bristol City is not only popular as a travel destination, but its Bristol City Football Club is also one of the best in the UK. Even though it is nothing compared to other giants such as Manchester United and Liverpool, Bristol City Football Club remains an active football club, being one of the two football clubs present in Bristol. The other football club in Bristol is the rival Bristol Rovers.

Founded in the year 1897, their stadium is at Ashton Gate, Bristol. The football club was founded after Bristol South End changed its name to Bristol City. With Steve Lansdown as the chairman and Gary Johnson as the manager, one can predict that they are going to lead Bristol City Football Club towards success.

There are quite a few honours that they have earned over the years. They won the Football League in 1906-1907, Welsh Cup in 1934 and the latest the Football League One in the year 2006-2007. Just like any other football clubs, there were ups and downs before success.

Even though they suffered in the latest 2008/2009 season, they are also making a comeback in early 2009 with 13 points from five games to reach the 8th place. That is not bad at all considering a new season has just begun.
